The pig is an animal with a stocky, cylinder-like body, short legs, small eyes and big ears. Pigs have a great sense of hearing and smell. Pigs are vertebrates. Pigs are mammals. Strong hair covers their bodies. At the end of their toes they have hooves. We can count four toes on their feet. Mammals that have two or four toes on each foot are called even-toed ungulates. Pigs are even-toed ungulates.

Pigs have strong jaws and complete set of teet; this means that they have three types      of teeth: incisors, canine or eye-teeth and molars. Pigs are omnivores.

The name of the male pig is the boar, the female is called a sow, and the piglet is the young pig.
